Scarlett loves apple sauce for a breakfast treat so when I came across a recipe for a homemade sauce I was on it. I modified it to suit her tastes and came out with a tangy, sweet, and spicy sauce that is good served hot or cold. Enjoy.

What you need:
4 apples 1 cup berries (optional) (any berry you want, I used canned whole cranberries)
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup water or apple juice
1 cinnamon stick or pinch of ground cinnamon
3 inch strip of lemon zest (this will be removed later so make sure it is big enough to see and pull out)

How to make it:
In a large saucepan cook apples, berries, sugar, water, cinnamon and lemon zest on medium heat until apples are soft. Remove cinnamon and lemon zest. Pour mixture into food processor or blender and blend until smooth.
