We have been suffering from a serious case of sick babies at our house. Sunday night Scarlett woke us up with the beginnings of a 24 stomach bug, we spent all day washing our hands, our hair, the couch, her sleeping bag, her pillow, the floor and her jammies (2 times). We watched movies all day cuddled next to a yellow mixing bowl. Eventually she recovered with a lingering case of "I now try to fake sickness so I can watch TV all day", but we are slowly shaking that off.
And as much as we tried to shelter Dominic from the stomach bug germs they came on full force Wednesday night. The poor thing couldn't figure out if he needed to lay his head down or play with his sister. He slept most of the day and smiled through the rest. He was a serious trooper, but now we have a case of the "I don't want to eat because I am afraid it will come back to haunt me" bug. He is refusing most food and will no longer drink more than 1 oz. of milk at a time. Snack time has become a hourly occurrence, and a habit I am sure I will be pulling my hair out to break.
But as of today we have two much healthier babies, and two thankful parents that have so far escaped the vicious plague that has graced our habitat.
One day at a time in mommy land...one day at a time.
Boys are gross...
Jan 29, 2014
We never had this problem with Scarlett.
Dominic and I were just having a little after bath play time and while I was cleaning the kids room I let him wander sans diaper (admittedly my fault). When I looked in the corner I noticed he was playing with two tiny rocks, not a irregular occurrence since our entire back yard is covered in rocks. I smiled, he smiled and we both went on our merry way. Until, a very proud little boy crawled his way over to my side of the room, handed me the tiny rocks and with a sharp sniff I noticed these "rocks" were actually tiny poop balls. He smiled and I said "gross" and rushed him to the bath tub for a serious rub down. I immediately texted Chris with a picture and the statement, boys are so gross.
And then a day later Dominic was taking a bath and I was sitting with him the bathroom reading a book (I take a little mommy time whenever I can get it). I looked up from my book and saw this...
Dominic was proudly displaying his latest work of art. Again, boys are so gross.
And then he just hangs out and looks super cute and I push aside the gross and am reminded that boys are actually pretty cool.

One guess what this means...

Scarlett decided to give herself a haircut.
Thankfully the damage is minimal. I think it was a ploy to get into the salon.
Los Padres 22...
Jan 14, 2014
Los Padres Supper Club, dinner number 22.
Those of us that have been a part of this club from the beginning can not believe that we just finished dinner number 22. Five years later we are all entering into busier seasons of life. Looking back we started this club on a whim, five ambitious couples, ready to put our taste buds and cooking skills to the test. Now, we find ourselves on the brink of thirty, two kids deep and struggling to find overnight babysitters 5 times a year. We spend a month planning, buying, preparing and tasting until the meal is ready to present to our fellow dinners. And when the night is over we always feel the complete satisfaction of creating an entire evening dedicated to our friends.
Dinner 22 was hosted by the newest couple. The theme was comfort food and it was a great way to kick off their first meal, inviting us into a rustic culinary adventure. It was food that we love, elevated to a fine dinning experience.

Poor boy...
Jan 13, 2014
This boy spends most of his time putting on bracelets and tiaras and then running a truck up and down the hallways. Surrounded by dress up clothes and baby dolls, what can you expect? At lease he always tries to throw a truck or two into the rotation for good measure.
